Horse Show Check List
Attending a horse show for the first time can be a lot of fun and a great way for each horse and rider to further develop their skills. We put together this checklist to help ensure our new riders and their parents are prepared.
Paperwork:
- Map to location of show
- Show information (Schedule usually posted on website of show host, final copy provided day of show at facility)
- Annual Membership & Horse Registration to Appropriate Association(s):

For You (or Your Parents):
- Sunblock
- Sunglasses
- Hat
- Comfortable clothes/shoes
- Change of clothes for rider after competition
- Cooler with Beverages and snacks
- Folding chairs
- Pain reliever, Band-Aids
- Camera and/or video camera
- Cell phone
- Lint remover
- Toiletries
- Hair brush
- Safety pins and sewing kit
- Grooming apron or other cover- up
- Rags
- Scissors
- Wet wipes
- Tissues
- Cash for tipping grooms
Show Apparel:
- Breeches, jodphurs or show pants
- Jodphur knee straps/garters (young girls only)
- Boots
- Boot socks
- Boot polish
- Spurs
- Show Jacket
- Show shirt
- Helmet
- Hair net
- Ribbons and hair ties (for younger girls only)
- Gloves (extra pair recommended for back up)
- Belt/buckle
- Rain gear, if needed
For Your Horse:
- Bridles& Bits (Monarch will move these with horse to show)
- Saddle
- Show pad
- Show Girths
- Crop
- Treats
For Grooming:
- Coat polish
- Spot remover and/or whitening product
- Rags
- Leather cleaner
- Wash and groom your horse the day before a oneday local show
